How to Report a Concern About Your Child's Safety: Using Florida DJJ's 24/7 CCC Hotline

Florida DJJ’s Central Communications Center (CCC) is set up to receive and relay incident information tied to youth care, safety, and humane treatment. The key thing to know is availability: the CCC operates seven days a week, including holidays, so you can make a report even if something happens on a weekend or when other offices are closed.

CCC Hotline: 1-800-355-2280

Info to Prepare

  • Program name or code for the facility/program involved
  • Names of the victim(s) and/or subject(s) involved
  • Place of occurrence
  • Date and time of the incident
  • Your name (name of the reporting person)
  • What you know about what happened (known information about the incident)
  • Whether the parent/guardian was notified
  • Whether video coverage is available
  • Whether witnesses are available (and who they are, if you know)
  • Whether an internal investigation was initiated
  • Whether a PAR restraint was involved
  • Staff-to-youth ratio
  • If it helps, use an Incident Complaint Form-CCC to collect the details before you call

You can file a report to the CCC anonymously. The tradeoff is that anonymous reports are harder to act on, because the Duty Officer has no way to reach back out to you for missing details or follow-up information.

If the CCC accepts your complaint, a CCC Duty Officer will assign it an incident number. Write that number down and keep it somewhere safe - you’ll need it if you want to check on the report later.

  1. Call the CCC back when you need an update - when you call, give the Duty Officer the incident number that was assigned to your report.
  2. Ask who the right contact is - after you provide the incident number, the Duty Officer will give you the name of a contact person from the appropriate branch who can share details about the incident.
  3. Watch for final results after the investigation - someone from the appropriate program area will contact you when the investigation is completed and provide you with the results.
