Visiting starts with paperwork. The offender must give you the Application for Visiting Privileges (Form C-02-008-A). Complete it and mail it to the facility—faxes aren't accepted. Your application has to be approved and on file before you can visit; the offender gets notified of approval or denial and then lets you know. When you arrive, register before entering the visiting area. Adults (18+) need acceptable photo ID: a driver's license, state ID, active-duty military ID, or passport. Leave personal items locked in your vehicle—cell phones, recording equipment, tobacco, and other contraband aren't allowed in the visiting area. Infants are permitted with limited supplies stored in a single clear plastic container. Offenders in intake status generally can't receive visits unless an immediate-family visit gets special authorization.

Communication here runs through approved contacts and a scheduled video system. For phone calls, each incarcerated person maintains an approved telephone list with up to 20 numbers. The list can be updated quarterly, and calls to unlisted numbers get blocked. Video visits use Securus Video Connect—schedule and join sessions through the free Securus app. Incoming calls are generally restricted, and most remote communication is monitored, so expect calls and video sessions to be recorded or observed. To use these services, you'll set up an account with the facility's approved vendor, register your contact details, and add funds. Video access requires a compatible device and a supported browser or the app.

All deposits go through JPay. To mail payment, send a JPay money order and the completed JPay deposit slip to PO Box 531370, Miami Shores, FL 33153. Money orders are accepted up to $999.99, and JPay doesn't charge a fee for them. Anything over $500 requires Louisiana DOC approval, so larger payments may be delayed during review. Mail only the payment paperwork—don't include letters or notes, because JPay discards extra enclosures. You also can't hand money directly to an incarcerated person during a visit. For canteen/package orders, the per-offender minimum is $20 and the maximum is $200 per institution and housing unit. Delivery dates can change.

If you'd rather talk to someone, call the DPS&C Imprisoned Person Locator at 225-383-4580. Having the DPS&C number helps, but staff can also search using the person's full name and date of birth. No match online? Try the full legal name plus any aliases or hyphenated names, then narrow results with date of birth or an offender/case number. You can also check local parish booking rosters tied to the arrest location. When using any online roster, confirm the "last updated" timestamp and opt into custody-status notifications where available.
