Sending Money to Someone at East Carroll Phase 3: JPay Money Orders and Rules

You can't hand cash directly to someone who's incarcerated during a visit. At East Carroll Phase 3, all deposits go through JPay - the system Louisiana state correctional facilities use to fund an incarcerated person's account.

Sending money by mail? Use a JPay money order deposit. Make the money order payable to JPay, fill out the deposit slip, and mail both to: JPay, PO Box 531370, Miami Shores, FL 33153.

  1. Complete the deposit slip - Fill it out clearly so it can be processed without delays.
  2. Put both items in one envelope - Place the money order and the completed deposit slip together in the same envelope.
  3. Mail it to the JPay PO Box - Address the envelope to JPay, PO Box 531370, Miami Shores, FL 33153.

Note: Write the incarcerated person's name and ID on the money order's "memo/used for" line. Double-check the name and ID on the deposit form - JPay won't process it without a valid email address and mailing address included.

Each money order maxes out at $999.99. Need to send more? You'll have to split it across multiple money orders.

Heads up: Money orders over $500 are subject to Louisiana DOC approval, which can delay when the funds post to your loved one’s account.

There's no fee to send money through JPay money orders. If you're trying to avoid extra charges, this is a solid option.

Don't include notes: Skip the personal letter - any notes tucked into the envelope will be thrown away.
