Setting Up a Video Teleconference for Your Loved One at East Jersey State Prison
Scheduling a video teleconference (VTC) at East Jersey State Prison (EJSP) comes down to timing and contacting the right person. Follow these steps to avoid the most common delays.
Plan ahead. Videoconference requests (and any supporting documents) must be faxed at least 48 hours before your requested day - weekends and holidays don't count. That means two business days minimum. If you're scheduling right after a holiday weekend, give yourself extra time.
Tip: Schedule your start time no later than one hour before closing. If the day ends at 4:00 PM, aim to begin by 3:00 PM.
EJSP videoconferences run Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM - the standard NJDOC operational window. Request a time outside those hours and you'll need to pick a different slot.
Conferences won't be scheduled to end after 4:00 PM. Need time beyond normal hours? That requires advance agreement from both sides - don't assume you can run over at the end of the day.
For attorney visits at EJSP, contact the facility directly. Karyn Parker-Foreman is available at Karyn.Parker-Foreman@doc.nj.gov or 732-499-5010 x2613. Carrie Davis can be reached at Carrie.Davis@doc.nj.gov or 732-499-5010 x2701.
For VTC coordination, Roxanne Riano is listed as a coordinator at East Jersey State Prison. Use the shared email ejsplegalaccess@doc.nj.gov or call 732-499-5010 x2705.
Once your faxed request arrives, the facility's videoconferencing staff checks the schedule for your requested day. This is why lead time matters - last-minute requests are harder to fit in. Don't count weekends or holidays when calculating your 48-hour window.
- Check Interstate Compact issues first (out-of-state agencies) - Before requesting a VTC with a New Jersey state inmate, contact Donna Sweeney-Elrose at 609-984-9598 to confirm possible conflicts with New Jersey’s Interstate Compact Agreement.
