Eden Detention Center's policy is straightforward: detainees cannot receive incoming telephone calls. You can't call the facility and ask to be connected, and calls won't be routed to housing units.

Need to confirm whether someone is currently housed at Eden? Call (325) 869-2704. That line is available 24 hours a day.

You can't call in, but people inside the facility do have phone access. ICE telephone standards require at least one operable telephone for every 25 detainees, so your loved one should have a way to place outgoing calls.

Costs can make phone contact confusing. Under ICE standards, calls are typically paid for by the detainee or the person they call. There are specific exceptions where calls must be permitted without charge.

For day-to-day communication, Eden states that detainees can use GettingOut to connect with family through email and video visitation. If you're trying to re-establish regular contact, this is often the quickest option rather than waiting for a phone call back.

  1. Call the main number - Dial (325) 869-2704.
  2. Choose the urgent message option - Press 4.
  3. Provide the detainee’s identification number - Staff will need it to route the message correctly.
  4. Leave the message and callback information - The facility will provide your message to the detainee along with the information they need to return the call.
  • For in-person visitation information, call (325) 869-2704 and press 2.
  • For legal visitation information, call (325) 869-2704 and press 3.

Some calls get treated differently under ICE telephone standards. Facilities must let detainees make direct or free calls to certain offices and individuals, including consular officials and the DHS Office of Inspector General, among others listed by ICE.

Indigent status: Under ICE standards, a detainee is typically considered indigent if they have less than $15.00 in their account. That status can affect whether they're required to pay for certain calls.

If you're stuck setting up communication or unsure what to do next, call Eden at (325) 869-2704. Press 2 for in-person visitation information. If your question is about using GettingOut for email or video visitation, the facility can point you in the right direction.
