Sending Messages and Photos to an El Dorado Resident's Tablet (GettingOut / ViaPath)
If your loved one is at El Dorado Correctional Facility, you can send electronic messages, photos, and short video attachments through the ViaPath GettingOut tablet messaging system. Here's how to set up your account, add funds, and understand what each item costs.
Tablet messages and photo sharing at El Dorado run through ViaPath (GettingOut). Once you add funds to your account, you can send electronic messages, photos, and 30-second video attachments. There's no fee to add funds through ViaPath.
One thing that trips people up: "tablet funds" and Kansas Department of Corrections trust-account deposits are two different things. Tablet funds cover messaging and other tablet features. Trust-account money is handled separately, and you cannot deposit trust-account funds through ViaPath.
- Create your GettingOut/ViaPath account. Use the Kansas-specific GettingOut sign-up page, or download the GettingOut app on your smartphone.
- Find and select your loved one. Once you’re logged in, follow the prompts to add the resident you want to communicate with.
- Add money to your ViaPath account. Your messaging, photo, and video costs are deducted from your ViaPath balance when you send them.
Minimum deposit: You need at least $10.00 in your GettingOut/ViaPath account before you can send messages, photos, or 30-second video messages.
Pricing for friends and family is straightforward. Each electronic message costs $0.25. Each photo costs $0.25. Each 30-second video attachment costs $1.75. These charges come out of your ViaPath account balance when you send them.
Adding funds through ViaPath is free. You only pay for the content you send: messages, photos, and video attachments.
Residents can also send messages from their own ViaPath tablet account. Each electronic message costs $0.25, deducted from their balance.
If your loved one wants to print what they receive, printing costs extra. Print Email is $0.35 per page, and Print Attachment/Photo is $1.00 per page. Both are charged to the resident's ViaPath account funds.
Entertainment content on the tablet is billed by the minute: $0.04 per minute for standard content and $0.06 per minute for premium content. These charges come from the resident's account.
Need to put money on a resident's Kansas Department of Corrections trust account? Don't use ViaPath for that. Trust-account deposits must be made through Access Corrections, not ViaPath.
