How to Put Money on an Inmate's Account at El Paso County Jail (And Avoid the Biggest Mistakes)

Mail your cashier's check or money order to the Bookkeeping – Inmate Funds address (this is the department that processes deposits): El Paso County Jail, Attn: Bookkeeping – Inmate Funds, 2739 East Las Vegas Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80906-1522.

Warning: Do not send inmate funds to the facility’s personal/third-party mail vendor address. Funds sent there will not be processed.

Accepted Payment Types

  • Cashier’s checks
  • Money orders

Anything other than a cashier's check or money order won't be processed as inmate funds. Stick to those two options to avoid delays or having your deposit returned.

How to Put Money on an Inmate's Account at El Paso County Jail (And Avoid the Biggest Mistakes)
  1. Write the inmate’s full EPSO booking name - use their full booking name exactly as it appears in the jail system.
  2. Add the correct Admit/Booking Number - use the Admit/Booking Number (not a DOC number).
  3. Include your full sender information - write your full name and home address, including city, state, and zip code.

Common delay trigger: Missing the Admit/Booking Number or leaving off your full return address (including city, state, and zip) can hold up processing.

El Paso County Jail requires one deposit per envelope for one inmate. Multiple deposits in the same envelope - even for the same person - won't be accepted.

Don’t add anything else: If your envelope includes correspondence or any other items along with the funds, it will be returned to you in its entirety - including the money order or cashier’s check.

Accidentally mailed money to the facility's personal/third-party mail vendor address? It won't be processed as inmate funds. Re-send your deposit to the Bookkeeping – Inmate Funds address listed above.
