Sending Money to an Inmate at El Paso County Jail: Where to Mail It and What They'll Accept

El Paso County Jail accepts inmate funds by mail only - money orders or cashier's checks. Send them to the jail's bookkeeping department at: El Paso County Jail, Attn: Bookkeeping – Inmate Funds, 2739 East Las Vegas Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80906-1522. Don't mail money to the third-party personal correspondence P.O. Box in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Funds sent there won't be processed.

How to Fill

  • Inmate’s full booking name (as booked)
  • Inmate’s Admit/Booking Number (not a DOC number)
  • Sender’s full name
  • Sender’s full home address, including city, state, and ZIP code

Before sealing the envelope, make sure the money order or cashier's check includes the inmate's full booking name and Admit/Booking Number (not a DOC number), plus your full name and address with city, state, and ZIP. Example: "Inmate: JANE MARIE DOE - Admit/Booking #123456" and "Sender: Chris Smith, 100 Main St, Colorado Springs, CO 80903." Getting these details right helps bookkeeping match the deposit to the correct account without delays.

Prohibited Types

  • Personal checks
  • Cash
  • Payroll checks
  • Insurance checks
  • Refund checks
  • State government checks
  • Federal government checks

Send one deposit per envelope, for one inmate. Multiple deposits in the same envelope - even for the same person - won't be accepted. The jail will treat it as a problem item instead of processing it, which slows everything down.

Warning: Don’t include letters, photos, or any other items in the same envelope as inmate funds. If there’s anything besides the deposit inside, the entire envelope will be returned to you - including the money order or cashier’s check.

If your deposit gets rejected, El Paso County Jail sends a notice to both you and the inmate. Check for common mistakes - missing the inmate's full booking name or Admit/Booking Number, or forgetting your complete return address. Fix the issue and resend.
