Setting Up Free Monthly Deposits to an Inmate Account (TDCJ ACH Guide)
Want money to land in a TDCJ inmate's trust account automatically every month? The free ACH monthly debit option does exactly that. Here's how it works, what you need to mail in, and where to send everything.
TDCJ's monthly ACH debit pulls a set amount from your checking account once a month and deposits it into the offender's trust fund. The debit happens around the 5th, and funds typically hit their account around the 10th. Expect a short gap between when money leaves your account and when it shows up on theirs.
Note: The monthly ACH debit is a free service provided by TDCJ, but it isn’t automatic - you have to enroll with the required form and documents.
You'll need two things: a completed ACH authorization form and a voided check from the checking account you want debited. The voided check links the authorization to the correct account - don't skip it. Both items must be sent together.
If you’re sending a money order or cashier’s check instead: You can get a deposit slip from the offender, or request one by mailing a self-addressed, stamped envelope to Inmate Trust Fund, PO Box 60, Huntsville, TX 77342-0060.
Mail your completed ACH authorization form and the voided check to: Inmate Trust Fund, PO Box 629, Huntsville, Texas 77342-0629.
Watch the addresses - they're different. Regular deposits using a deposit slip go to Inmate Trust Fund, PO Box 60, Huntsville, TX 77342-0060. ACH enrollment paperwork goes to PO Box 629.
Need to change or stop the monthly debit later? TDCJ has a specific stop/change form for that. Use their official form - don't just send a note on its own.
