You'll need to register in advance and be on the offender's approved visitation list. Registration alone won't get you in - both pieces must be in place before you plan your trip.

Check-in happens at Building A. Bring your photo ID and have the offender's GDC number ready - staff will ask for it. Need physical assistance? Let a GDC representative know during check-in. That's the best time to flag any accommodations so they can help you through the process smoothly.

  • Government-issued photo ID
  • Offender’s GDC number

Once you're checked in, everything runs on a number system. GDC hands out color-coded numbers that match the person or department you want to speak with. Head to the auditorium and wait until your number is called. When it comes up, you'll be directed to the right area.

  1. Check in at Building A - have your photo ID and the offender’s GDC number ready.
  2. Receive your color-coded number - it corresponds to the person/section you want to speak with.
  3. Wait in the auditorium - remain there until your number is called.
  4. Move when you’re called - you’ll be ushered to the appropriate area with your group.

If you need physical assistance, mention it during check-in - don't wait until you're in the auditorium or moving with a group. Check-in is when staff can plan ahead. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes. You may be walking or standing for a while.

Note: If you need physical assistance, speak up during check-in so staff can accommodate you early in the process.
