Setting Up a Phone Account with Securus: What Families Need to Know
If your loved one's facility uses Securus for phone calls, setup is pretty straightforward. Here's what you need to know about your options and the rules that affect whether calls connect.
You can set up a pre-paid collect or direct bill account online through the Securus Technologies website. This is usually the fastest option if you're comfortable managing things from your phone or computer.
Prefer to set things up by phone? Call Securus at 1-800-844-6591 to create a pre-paid collect or direct bill account. This works well if you run into issues online or want help walking through the steps.
Pre-paid collect accounts have a $200.00 deposit cap. Need to add more? You'll have to split it into multiple deposits.
Privacy reminder: Calls may be subject to monitoring and recording.
Calls max out at 25 minutes. If you've got a lot to cover - updates about kids, bills, court dates - prioritize what matters most so nothing important gets cut off.
Your number must be on the offender's Call Allow List or the call won't connect - even if you've already funded an account. Confirm your number is listed before adding money.
Heads up: Call forwarding and three-way calling are not permitted.
Practical Tips
- ✓ Confirm the phone number you plan to use is on the offender’s Call Allow List before you add funds.
- ✓ Plan conversations around the 25-minute maximum per call so you don’t get cut off mid-update.
- ✓ If you need help setting up, use the Securus Technologies website or call Securus at 1-800-844-6591.
