This rule matters because monthly in-person visits are limited. General population inmates with visitation privileges get up to four in-person visits per month, with a maximum of one visit per weekend. Each scheduled slot is valuable, especially if you are trying to spread visits across multiple weekends.

A single in-person visit can include up to four visitors at a time, and at least one must be an adult. Many families treat each visit as a shared event. If you schedule one and do not cancel at least 48 hours ahead, you are not just losing a day together. You may also be burning one of the limited visit slots for the month.

1. Make sure you are eligible to use the scheduler: You must be on your loved one’s approved visitation list, and you must be registered on the SCDC/GTL scheduling website.
2. Log in to the GTL scheduler: All visits are scheduled through the GTL (SCDC/GTL) scheduler, and that is where you will go to make changes.
3. Find your scheduled visit: Look for the upcoming appointment you need to change.
4. Cancel or modify the visit early enough: Do it at least 48 hours before the scheduled time so it does not count toward the monthly total.
5. Double-check that the change saved: Before you log out, confirm the visit shows as canceled or updated in your scheduled visits.
