How to Register for Visits at Evans Correctional Institution (Starting June 1, 2025)
Starting June 1, 2025, registering for visits at Evans Correctional Institution is getting simpler for many adults. Here's who can register online, who still needs to use paper forms, and what to do once you're approved.
Beginning June 1, 2025, adults age 18 and older with a valid South Carolina driver’s license can register for visitation online. If that describes you, the online registration option is the fastest path to getting started.
All minor children still need to go through the paper application process. Their application requires documentation verifying the relationship, so gather that paperwork before you mail anything in.
Adults without a driver's license can also apply by paper. This includes anyone using a passport or a U.S. visa as their primary ID.
Have an out-of-state driver's license? You'll need to use the paper application too. The agency will continue accepting paper applications for this situation.
Mail paper visitation applications to: Division of Visitation and I/M DT, P.O. Box 212969, Columbia, S.C., 29221-2969.

Getting approved is just the first step. You still need to schedule your visit through the GTL scheduler before you can show up.
- Confirm you are on the approved visitation list - you must be on the inmate’s approved visitation list to use the scheduler.
- Register on the SCDC/GTL scheduling website - this registration is required before you can book a visit.
- Schedule your visit using the GTL scheduler - once registered, use the GTL scheduler to select and book an available visit time.
