How to deposit funds, commissary, and payment options

Overview

To pay the Kern County Sheriff's Civil Section, money orders are accepted as long as they're payable to Kern County Sheriff (KCSO) and filled out completely. Personal checks are only accepted when pre-printed with the maker's name and address, dated current, and written by a party to the action. No third-party checks. Out-of-state personal checks are not accepted either. Cash is accepted only in person at the counter and should never be mailed. Coins are limited to the equivalent of one roll per transaction. Fees must be prepaid unless you present a valid court-issued fee waiver at the time of service, and amounts $10.00 or less are not refundable. For other deposit options or posting timelines, confirm accepted methods before sending funds.
