The Fairfax County ADC uses Smart Communications as its inmate phone vendor. To let your loved one call you, you'll set up an account through Smart Communications. There are several options: Pre-paid, Collect, PIN Debit, or Direct Bill.

  1. Pick the account type you want to use. Smart Communications offers Pre-paid, Collect, PIN Debit, and Direct Bill options.
  2. Set up the account online or by phone. Smart Communications allows families to enroll online or to set things up over the phone.
  3. Call Smart Communications for account help. For questions about setup, payments, or troubleshooting, contact Smart Communications Customer Care at 1-888-253-5178 or 1-727-349-1561.

Procurement contact (rarely needed): For contract or purchasing questions about inmate communications, contact Michelle Nelson, Buyer I, at 703-246-4435 or michelle.nelson@fairfaxcounty.gov.

People housed at the Fairfax County ADC cannot receive incoming phone calls. You won't be able to call and have staff put someone on the line. It only works the other direction: inmates make outgoing calls. Upon admission, they get reasonable phone access to make official and personal calls. After classification and transfer to an assigned housing area, they can place free local calls to attorneys, probation and parole officers, bonding agents, and some community agencies.

Emergency messages: Only verified emergency messages will be delivered to inmates at the Fairfax County ADC.

For questions about call accounts, billing, or getting a number working, go straight to Smart Communications Customer Care at 1-888-253-5178 or 1-727-349-1561. For questions about ADC procedures (including how emergency notifications are handled), call the ADC's main number and follow the menu prompts to reach the right area.

For most facility questions, start with the Fairfax County ADC main line at 703-246-2100. The phone menu breaks down like this: Press 1 for directions, Press 2 for visiting, Press 3 for medical, and Press 4 for confinement. If you press 4, you'll get sub-options for inmate information, bonds/release/court dates, property room, finance, or transportation.

The Fairfax County ADC is at 10520 Judicial Drive, Fairfax, VA 22030. If you're driving, there's a public parking garage a short walk away at 10550 Page Avenue, Fairfax, VA 22030.
