Visitation at Fairfax County Adult Det Center, VA

How to visit, scheduling, dress code, and visitor requirements

Overview

Fairfax County Adult Detention Center switched to video visitation in August 2021. If an inmate is authorized for visits, they can have one video visit per day in 15- or 30-minute increments. Remote video visits cost $0.10 per minute. You'll need to schedule and pay through Smart Communications at least 24 hours before your appointment. The Sheriff's Office directs all video-visitation questions to Smart Communications. If you end a visit early by clicking the End Visit button, you cannot rejoin. The system also uses face detection, so the video feed will go blank if a face isn't visible. Professional visitors can use Smart Communications for virtual access, but in-person professional visits require advance approval and check-in at the second-floor control booth.
