How Video Visits Work at Fayette County Jail (Step-by-Step)

At Fayette County Jail, visits are video-only and non-contact - there are no in-person visits. Each inmate is offered one free 30-minute video visit per week, so it helps to plan ahead and make that time count.

After you're approved through the jail's screening process, you'll come to the jail at your prescheduled time and use one of the visitation kiosks in the lobby. This is an appointment-based system - no walk-ins.

  1. Go to the GTL VisitMe registration site - use https://www.fayettecopa.gtlvisitme.com/app.
  2. Create your account - fill out the required information to set up your visitor profile.
  3. Schedule the visit - once your account is set up, use the system to pick an available time and book your video visit.

ID required: During registration you must upload a clear photo of your government-issued photo ID. If you refuse to submit ID, the visit will be denied.

Scheduling Windows and Cancellations

  • Schedule at least 24 hours in advance.
  • You can’t schedule more than 14 days ahead.
  • Cancel at least 24 hours before the visit.
  • If the inmate is transferred or released, the visit is automatically cancelled.

Arrive no more than 10 minutes before your scheduled start time. Show up earlier and staff will ask you to wait outside - you won't be allowed in the lobby until closer to your appointment.

Approved visitors enter the lobby at their scheduled time to use the visitation kiosks. You're only allowed to use the on-site kiosks once per week, so pick your time slot carefully.

To register and schedule a visit, you must be at least 18 years old.

  • Maximum visitors per inmate: two (either two adults, or one authorized adult plus one minor child of the inmate).
  • An inmate’s natural or adopted children may visit only when accompanied by an authorized adult.
  • Birth certificates for minor children may be requested.

Weekly limits apply on both sides. Each inmate gets one free 30-minute visit per week, and visitors can only use the lobby kiosks once per week. If you're coordinating with other family members, plan around these limits before booking.

Privacy reminder: All video visits are subject to monitoring, recording, and review.

  1. Check whether the visit was automatically cancelled - if the inmate was transferred or released, your visit will be cancelled.
  2. Cancel the right way (and on time) - if you need to cancel, do it at least 24 hours in advance.
  3. Reschedule through GTL VisitMe - log back into your account at https://www.fayettecopa.gtlvisitme.com/app and book a new time.
