FCI Englewood: Visiting Hours, Weekend Schedule, and the FPC Mid‑Morning Closure
Planning a visit to FCI Englewood? Social visiting is weekends and federal holidays only. Some units also have mid-morning closures that affect when you can check in or stay on the grounds.
There's no social visiting Monday through Friday at the FCI, FDC, or FPC - federal holidays are the only exception. Most visits happen on Saturdays and Sundays. Holidays follow the weekend schedule.
For the FCI and FDC (including general population and the Special Housing Unit), visiting hours are Saturday, Sunday, and federal holidays from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. That 7:30–2:30 window is the baseline for most visitors on the FCI/FDC side.
The FPC runs on a split schedule. Visiting hours on Saturdays, Sundays, and federal holidays are 7:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., then 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. That mid-morning gap is built into the schedule - you won't be able to stay straight through to the afternoon.
Note: The FPC closes visiting from 9:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturdays, Sundays, and federal holidays for count and lunch. Visitors must leave the grounds and return after 11:30 a.m.
Even on visiting days, there's a window when you can't be processed into the FCI or FDC visiting room. Processing closes from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for count. Show up during that time and you'll wait until processing reopens.
- Pick a weekend or federal holiday - social visiting isn’t available Monday–Friday, so start by choosing a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday that works for you.
- Arrive early enough to get processed before the closure - for the FCI/FDC, plan to be through visiting processing before 9:30 a.m. since processing closes 9:30–11:00 a.m. for count.
- If you’re visiting the FPC, plan around the split schedule - FPC visiting pauses 9:45–11:30 a.m. for count and lunch, and visitors are expected to leave the grounds during that closure.
- Return after the facility reopens - for the FCI/FDC, processing resumes after 11:00 a.m.; for the FPC, visiting resumes after 11:30 a.m.
Weekday visits aren't an option. The standing policy is no social visiting Monday through Friday at the FCI, FDC, or FPC. Federal holidays are the only exception - they follow the weekend schedule.
Visits are tracked using a monthly point system. Inmates at the FCI, FDC, and FPC get 40 visiting points per month. Weekend and holiday visits cost two points per hour. Planning multiple trips? The length of each visit matters as much as the number of days you come.
Note: Any visit over 15 minutes counts as a full hour for point calculation at the FCI, FDC, and FPC.

- ✓ Plan your visit for Saturday, Sunday, or a federal holiday (that’s when social visiting is available).
- ✓ If you’re visiting the FCI/FDC, avoid arriving during the 9:30–11:00 a.m. processing closure for count.
- ✓ If you’re visiting the FPC, plan for two windows: 7:30–9:45 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
- ✓ For the FPC, expect to leave the institution grounds during the 9:45–11:30 a.m. closure and return after 11:30 a.m.
Think twice before "just stopping by for a few minutes." Each inmate has 40 points per month, and weekend/holiday visits cost two points per hour. Anything over 15 minutes counts as a full hour. If you're stretching points across multiple visits, watch the clock.
