How to Use TRULINCS Email to Stay in Touch with Someone at FCI Forrest City Low

TRULINCS is the Bureau of Prisons' email-style messaging system. Before you can use it, a few approvals need to happen: the person you want to message must be approved for TRULINCS access, and they need to add you as a contact. You'll also consent to monitoring before messaging begins. One detail worth knowing: TRULINCS is funded through the Inmate Trust Fund (commissary profits, phone services, and TRULINCS fees), not taxpayer dollars.

TRULINCS messages are text-only. Attachments are not permitted, so you cannot send photos, PDFs, or other files through the system.

Messages are capped at 13,000 characters each, roughly two pages of text. If you have more to say, split it into multiple messages to avoid hitting the limit.

During setup, you may see paperwork referenced. One form to recognize is the TRULINCS Contact Request Form (BP-A1054), listed in the Bureau of Prisons Trust Fund/Deposit Fund Manual (P4500.12).

This form matters because TRULINCS isn't an open email system. The inmate must be approved to use it, and every outside contact needs to give permission. BP-A1054 is the administrative reference tied to that contact-permission process.

1. Confirm TRULINCS access on their side. Ask your person at FCI Forrest City Low whether they are approved to use TRULINCS, and whether they can add you as a contact who has permission to communicate.
