What Happens During Check-In at FCI Jesup: ID Requirements and Security Screening
Your first visit to FCI Jesup goes smoother when you understand what check-in accomplishes: confirming your identity, matching you to an approved visit, and tracking everyone who enters and exits.
FCI Jesup runs check-in through the Bureau of Prisons' visitor management tools (ACES/WebV), which log when people enter and leave. Expect your ID to be checked every time. You may also go through information validation steps before you're allowed in.
ACES/WebV isn't just for family visitors - it tracks everyone entering and exiting, including staff, contractors, and volunteers. The system exists for accountability: knowing who's on-site and when helps the facility maintain safety and security.
Note: This logging isn't personal. It's how staff confirm who's inside the institution at any moment, including during emergencies.
Bring a valid, government-issued photo ID every time. Staff check IDs at each visit - no exceptions, even if you've been before.
Once your ID is checked, staff run a background check. At minimum, this includes an NCIC check to verify the information you provided. If something doesn't match what's on record, they'll address it before you can proceed.
Important: Count on two things every visit: your ID will be inspected, and your information will be validated through an NCIC check.

WebV also pulls up inmate details so staff can confirm they're processing the correct visit. This includes the incarcerated person's name, register number, housing unit, and work detail - all pulled from the BOP's inmate management system.
- Bring a legal, government-issued photo ID - you’ll need it every single time you visit.
- Double-check your details match what’s on file - your name and relationship to the inmate should line up with the approved visitor entry in WebV.
- Arrive with extra time - check-in can include information validation steps, including an NCIC check at minimum.
- Review any local visiting instructions before you go - facility procedures can include additional requirements beyond the basic ID and system check-in.
If you're a non-U.S. citizen or bringing a minor, verify what documentation the facility expects before you arrive. ACES can record identifiers like passport numbers or alien registration numbers - knowing which documents to bring saves time at check-in.
Reminder: WebV stores approved visitor information. If you plan to visit again, bring documents that support the details recorded for you.
