What Happens During Check-In at FCI Jesup: ID Requirements and Security Screening

FCI Jesup uses the Bureau of Prisons ACES/Web Visiting systems to log and track everyone entering and exiting the institution, including approved visitors. This tracking is a safety measure. It helps staff account for everyone during normal operations and in an emergency. A quick note on how Web Visiting actually works: it stores approved visitor information that staff pull up at the front office when you arrive. Your background check is not run inside Web Visiting. Once a separate background process is completed, BOP staff enter your approved-visitor information into the Web Visiting application.

Bring a valid, government-issued photo ID every time you visit FCI Jesup. Staff check it during check-in to confirm who you are and match you against what's on file. During this process, ACES can also capture identification details from your ID (a driver's license number or passport number, for example). Depending on how the institution is processing visitors that day, ACES may collect a digital photo and fingerprints as part of the identification data used to support safety and security.

Visitor processing in ACES includes a background validation step. At minimum, an NCIC check is performed to validate the data you provide when you're recorded into the system. This is standard across BOP facilities. Web Visiting is not the tool that runs that background check. Once the external background process is completed, BOP staff enter approved visitor information into Web Visiting. Even if you've visited before, you still need to present a valid, government-issued photo ID each time you come to the institution.
