Before Your First Visit to FDC SeaTac: ID, Approved Visitor List, and Who Can Come

Your first visit to FDC SeaTac goes a lot smoother when you confirm two things ahead of time: you're on the approved visitor list, and everyone in your group has the right ID (or is young enough not to need one). Here's what you need to know so you don't get turned away at the door.

Before Your First Visit to FDC SeaTac: ID, Approved Visitor List, and Who Can Come

Before you make the trip, confirm that you're on the inmate's approved visiting list. If your name isn't on that list, you won't be allowed to visit. It doesn't matter if you have ID or drove three hours to get there. Not sure whether you've been approved yet? Don't wait until the day of your visit to find out. A quick phone call beforehand can save you a wasted trip.

Tip: To check whether you're on the approved visiting list, call FDC SeaTac at (206) 870-5700 before you head out.

Bringing kids? Plan ahead the same way you would for an adult visitor. At FDC SeaTac, every child, regardless of age, must be listed on the inmate's approved visitor list.

Visitors under 16 can't come on their own. They must be accompanied by an approved adult visitor, so make sure the adult bringing them is also on the approved list.

Plan your group size before you arrive. Each inmate can have a maximum of six visitors at one time, and that total includes both adults and children.

Anyone 16 or older needs a valid state or government-issued photo ID at check-in. That means a driver's license or another government picture identification showing your full name and signature. This is one of the most common reasons people get turned away on a first visit. Check your wallet before you leave home, and make sure everyone in your group who is 16+ has their own valid photo ID.

Heads up: An expired driver's license won't be accepted as valid ID at FDC SeaTac.

Good to know: A suspended driver's license is still valid ID for visiting purposes.
