Visiting With Young Children at FDC SeaTac: What You Can Bring and What's Not Allowed
Bringing little ones to visit? Knowing the rules ahead of time makes everything smoother. Here's what FDC SeaTac allows in the Visiting Room, how many people can come, and what to leave in the car.
Social visiting at FDC SeaTac runs on a set weekly schedule. Weekends are Sunday and Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. - often the easiest windows for families with young kids who do better earlier in the day. Prefer weekdays? Visiting is also available Monday and Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The facility is closed to visitors on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, so plan around those days. Federal holidays follow weekend hours: 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
FDC SeaTac allows up to six visitors at one time per inmate - and that total includes both adults and children. If you're coordinating between parents, grandparents, and other caregivers, count everyone before you go. You don't want to arrive and have to choose who sits out.
Permitted Infant Items
- ✓ One clear sippy cup
- ✓ One infant-size blanket
- ✓ No infant toys of any kind
Here's the key rule: visitors may only bring their identification into the Visiting Room. Everything else stays behind - either locked in your car or stored in the lockers in the front lobby. That's why the permitted infant items list is so short. Bring only what's allowed and secure the rest before heading in.
Seating in the Visiting Room is structured: visitors sit across from the inmate. The exception? A child can sit on the inmate's lap. If you're visiting with a very young child, pack light - you can only bring one clear sippy cup and one infant-size blanket. Infant toys aren't allowed in the Visiting Room.
- Pack only the allowed infant items - Bring one clear sippy cup and one infant-size blanket, and leave all infant toys at home.
- Count your group before you leave - The maximum is six visitors total (adults and children combined), so coordinate caregivers and siblings ahead of time.
- Secure everything except your ID - Only identification can go into the Visiting Room; lock other personal items in your vehicle or use the front lobby lockers so check-in is smoother with kids.
Reminder: No infant toys of any kind are allowed in the Visiting Room at FDC SeaTac.
