How to Schedule Visits at Fentress County Jail (same-day appointments, 4-visitor rule, and no-show policy)

Visits are scheduled same-day only - no advance reservations. It's first-come, first-served, so arriving early helps if you want a specific time slot.

  1. Call at 8:00 am (not earlier) - If you live in another county or another state, call 931-879-8142 at 8:00 am on the morning of the visitation day.
  2. Have proof of address ready - You’ll need proof of address using a valid driver’s license with the correct address.
  3. Book your same-day appointment by phone - Once you’ve called at the allowed time and can provide proof of address, you can make your appointment for that day’s visit.

Who Named and 4 Rule

  • Provide the names of everyone who will visit when you make the appointment (up to 4 visitors).
  • Finalize your group at booking time - no additional visitors can be added after the appointment is set.

Each visit lasts 30 minutes. Since the time slot is fixed, plan to check in and be ready before your appointment starts.

Someone just booked into Fentress County Jail can't have visits for 7 days after booking. It's frustrating, but knowing this upfront saves you a wasted trip.

Transfers are different: inmates coming from another facility may be eligible for visits on the next scheduled visitation day.

Can't make your scheduled visit? Call to cancel. Skipping this step can cause bigger problems than you'd expect.

Warning: Not showing up for a scheduled visit may result in losing future visits.

IDs and Forms

  • If you’re 18 or older, fill out a visitation form before you can visit.
  • If you’re 18 or older, show ID before you can visit.
  • If you live in another county or state and you’re calling to schedule at 8:00 am, have a valid driver’s license with the correct address ready as proof of address.
