Scheduling Your First Visit: The GDC Approval & Scheduling Process (applies to Floyd County Prison)
Before you can visit someone at Floyd County Prison, you need to get approved. The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) handles this through a Visitation Request Form. Fill it out, submit it to the facility where your loved one is housed, and wait for approval. Once that's done, you can request your actual visit through the same GDC system.
Note: All visit requests go through the official GDC visitation form. Start by submitting the Visitation Request Form to the facility.

- ✓ Offender ID (GDC ID)
- ✓ Your name: last name, first name, and middle name (middle is optional)
- ✓ Your email address
- ✓ Your relationship to the offender
- ✓ Your date of birth
- ✓ Your telephone number
- ✓ Your ID type (Driver’s License, State ID, or None)
- ✓ If you select Driver’s License or State ID: the ID number/details the form asks for
- ✓ If you’re selecting Driver’s License or State ID: you must be 18 or older
The online form asks for specific details, so gather everything before you start. You'll need the offender's GDC ID, your full name (middle name optional), and your ID type. Choosing Driver's License or State ID? You'll enter the ID details the form requests. One thing to know: you must be 18 or older to select those ID options.
- Go to the GDC “Request a Scheduled Visit” form - scheduled visits are requested through the official GDC visitation form.
- Fill out the form completely - use the information you gathered (GDC ID, your contact details, and identification info).
- Submit your request through the form - this is the required way to request a scheduled visit.
Timing matters. For weekend visits, submit your request by 5:00 PM on Wednesday of that same week. Planning to visit on a state holiday? The cutoff is 5:00 PM three days before.
Warning: Miss the 5:00 PM cutoff and your request may not be accepted for that visit window.

Plans change. If you can't make your scheduled visit, use the GDC
Note: The approval and scheduling steps follow GDC's statewide process, but day-of details can vary by location. Before you head out, confirm Floyd County Prison's current visiting instructions through official GDC or facility sources.
