There's a kiosk right in the Forsyth County Jail lobby where you can add money to an inmate's commissary account. It accepts credit cards, debit cards, and cash, so it's a solid choice if you're handling things in person or prefer to pay with cash.

You can also add money online through the Jail ATM website. The process works like most online payments: create an account (if you don't already have one), select "send money now," and follow the steps to complete your deposit.

  • For the lobby kiosk: bring a credit card, debit card, or cash
  • For Jail ATM online: be ready to create an account (if needed) and follow the “send money now” prompts
  • For either method: have the inmate’s identifying information available so the deposit goes to the right person

Want to order commissary items for someone at Forsyth County Jail? Friends and family have to place orders through the Jail ATM website. The jail doesn't accept outside commissary packages, so sending items through other services or dropping off a package won't work.

Note: Only commissary orders placed through Jail ATM are accepted. Outside commissary packages sent through any other method will be turned away.

There's a weekly limit on care packages ordered by friends and family. Each inmate can only receive one care package per week from outside orders.

Commissary orders are also capped at a dollar limit set by the Jail Administrator. Before placing an order, check with the housing deputy on the current maximum. That way you won't run into an avoidable rejection or delay.

  • Keep track of the last care package you ordered, since only one is allowed per week
  • Check the current commissary dollar limit before ordering, since the cap is set by the Jail Administrator
  • If you are unsure about the limit, ask the housing deputy
  1. Confirm the inmate’s information - Use the correct identifying details before you submit a deposit.
  2. Pick your deposit method - Use the jail lobby kiosk (credit, debit, or cash) or deposit online through Jail ATM.
  3. Complete the payment - At the kiosk, follow the on-screen prompts. Online, create an account if needed, then use “send money now” and follow the instructions.
  4. Save your receipt or confirmation - Keep it in case you need to ask about a deposit later.

Tip: Hold on to your kiosk receipt or Jail ATM confirmation. If funds don't post or a commissary order gets rejected, check with jail staff or the housing deputy.
