How to Apply to Visit an Inmate from Fort Dodge: Print, Sign, and Mail to Mount Pleasant

The Iowa Department of Corrections offers both in-person and video visits at no cost - but only after you're approved. Getting that approval is the first step before you can schedule anything.

Every adult visitor must submit their own application and get approved. Minors don't need separate applications - they're listed on the form completed by their parent or legal guardian. One thing that trips people up: electronic applications aren't accepted. You'll need to print, sign, and mail it.

Download the official Iowa DOC visitor application (available in English and Spanish), then print it out. Fill it in carefully and sign it. Online or emailed submissions won't be accepted.

Each adult needs to complete and sign their own application. If a minor will be visiting with you, list them on your form - don't submit a separate application under the child's name.

Mail your completed, signed application to Central Records: Mount Pleasant Correctional Facility Attn: Central Records 1200 E. Washington St. Mount Pleasant, IA 52641 This is the only way to submit - electronic applications aren't accepted.

After mailing your application, facility staff will review it and make the decision. If you're waiting on an answer, note that Ameelio staff can't approve or deny visitation requests - that's handled entirely by the facility.

Once approved, you'll schedule visits through the Ameelio App. Both in-person and video visits are arranged there, and both are free for approved friends and family.
