How to Send Money to Facility

The Iowa Department of Corrections runs all incoming money through one central location at the Fort Dodge Correctional Facility (FDCF). That means mailed payments go to a single address, not to the institution where someone is housed.

Sending a cashier's check or money order? You'll need to mail it. Drop-offs are no longer accepted at any institution, so the Fort Dodge address is your only option for those payment forms.

You can also send funds electronically. The Iowa DOC lists three vendors for electronic deposits: Access Corrections, JPay, and Western Union.

How to Send Money to Facility

Steps to Follow

  • Use a cashier’s check or money order for a mailed deposit.
  • Make it payable exactly to: IDOC Offender Fiduciary Account.
  • Mail it to: IDOC Offender Fiduciary Account, 1550 L Street, Suite B, Fort Dodge, IA 50501.
  • Include all required details on the cashier’s check or money order: offender name, offender number, sender’s name, and sender’s complete address.
  • Write clearly so the information is legible.

Note: No institution accepts money orders or cashier's checks by drop-off. You must mail these to the Fort Dodge address.

  1. Pick an electronic vendor: Access Corrections, JPay, or Western Union.
  2. Enter the offender’s information carefully: Small errors can send money to the wrong place or cause delays.
  3. Follow the vendor’s checkout steps: Each company has its own process, limits, and fees, so review the details before you submit.

Before mailing a deposit, double-check two things: the payee wording and the mailing address. Write the payee as "IDOC Offender Fiduciary Account" and send it to IDOC Offender Fiduciary Account, 1550 L Street, Suite B, Fort Dodge, IA 50501.

Your cashier's check or money order needs to include the offender's name and offender number, plus your name and complete address. If anything is missing or hard to read, the deposit can be returned by mail. Take an extra minute to check legibility before you send it.

Policies can change, so confirm your method right before sending. Cashier's checks and money orders are not accepted by drop-off at institutions and must be mailed. For electronic deposits, make sure you're using one of the approved vendors (Access Corrections, JPay, or Western Union) and check that vendor's current fees, limits, and required fields before you submit.
