The Iowa Department of Corrections routes all commissary money through one central place: Fort Dodge Correctional Facility (FDCF). Even if your loved one is housed at a different prison, money you send goes through Fort Dodge's banking process. This means deposits follow them if they transfer to another institution.

Sending a cashier's check or money order? Mail it to the Iowa DOC's central deposit address: IDOC Offender Fiduciary Account 1550 L Street, Suite B Fort Dodge, IA 50501 Follow the required format exactly. If anything is missing or hard to read, your deposit gets mailed back to you.

  • Make the cashier’s check or money order payable to: IDOC Offender Fiduciary Account
  • Include the offender’s name and offender number
  • Include the sender’s name and the sender’s complete address
  • Write clearly and legibly so the deposit can be processed
  • Don’t try to drop it off at an institution - money orders and cashier’s checks are no longer accepted by drop-off at any institution; mail is the only option

Need something faster? Iowa DOC accepts electronic deposits through Access Corrections, JPay, and Western Union. With Access Corrections, online deposit fees start at $3.49. Prefer to handle it by phone? Call the Access Corrections toll-free line at 1-866-345-1884.

Note: Some walk-in cash deposit programs cap transactions at $900.

JPay is another approved way to send funds electronically. Pay online with a Visa or MasterCard debit or credit card - fees range from $3.95 to $10.95 depending on the amount. You can also deposit by phone at 1-800-574-5729. If you're weighing your options, JPay, Access Corrections, and Western Union are the three electronic services Iowa DOC lists for commissary deposits.

Western Union works too, through its Send2Corrections service. Find a Western Union agent location by calling 1-800-325-6000 or using the agent locator online.

Want to handle it from your phone? Download the Send2Corrections app - search "Send2Corrections" in the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).

Heads up: Walk-in cash deposit programs often cap transactions at $900.

Mailed deposits are the most likely to get delayed or returned if even one detail is off. Stick to the required format: use a cashier's check or money order, make it payable to "IDOC Offender Fiduciary Account," and include the offender's name and offender number plus your full name and complete address. One more thing - you can't drop off money orders or cashier's checks at an institution anymore. Mail them to: IDOC Offender Fiduciary Account, 1550 L Street, Suite B, Fort Dodge, IA 50501.
