How to Create a TDCJ Visitation Scheduler Account and Add an Inmate (Fort Stockton visitors)
Planning to visit someone at the Fort Stockton Unit? You'll need to create your own account in the TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler and add the inmate to your profile. Here's how to do it, plus what happens after you submit your relationship request.
TDCJ staff can't create an account for you - you have to do it yourself. Once your account exists, staff can help with limited updates like correcting your name or address, but the initial registration is entirely on you. One more thing: choose your email carefully. Once an account is tied to an email address, that account can't be deleted and the email can't be changed.
- Click “Create an Account” - this is the option for first-time users.
- Enter a valid email address and submit - the system uses this email to start your registration.
- Open the email you receive from the scheduler - it will include a 7-digit validation code and a link.
- Continue registration using the link or the 7-digit code - either option gets you back into the scheduler to finish setting up your account.
After clicking the link in your email, you'll finish your registration details (including setting a password) and then hit the Background Questionnaire. Take your time here - every question must be answered before the system lets you move forward.
Step3 Profile Phone
- ✓ Answer every question in the Background Questionnaire before trying to move on.
- ✓ Complete every required field in your Visitor Profile (the form will flag missing information).
- ✓ Enter your phone number in this exact format: XXX XXX XXXX (use spaces, not dashes).
Tip: If your phone number keeps getting rejected, check the format. The scheduler expects spaces (XXX XXX XXXX), not dashes.
To add the person you want to visit, search using their TDCJ number or SID number. The scheduler is picky about format: the number must be exactly 8 digits. Fewer or more digits won't match.
Don't know their 8-digit TDCJ/SID number? Use the TDCJ Offender Search tool to look it up first. Once you have the correct number, come back to the scheduler and continue.
- Choose “Add Inmate” (or search inmate) - this opens the inmate search window.
- Enter the inmate’s 8-digit TDCJ or SID number - it must be 8 digits.
- Select your relationship from the dropdown - choose the option that best describes how you’re connected.
- Click “Request Approval” and confirm - this sends a Relationship Request to the inmate’s unit of assignment so staff can verify the visitor/inmate relationship.
After you click Request Approval (and confirm), your request goes to the inmate's unit of assignment for verification. While staff review it, you'll see the inmate listed on your home page under
If you don’t see “Schedule Visit”: First, check whether the inmate is still listed under Pending versus Verified on your home page. If scheduling still isn’t available after it’s verified, contact the inmate’s unit of assignment to schedule.
Troubleshooting
- ✓ Trying to get staff to “set up your account” - visitors must create their own accounts; staff can’t create them.
- ✓ Not receiving the registration email - registration requires the email with the 7-digit code and link to continue.
- ✓ Getting stuck during setup - the Background Questionnaire won’t let you proceed unless every question is answered.
- ✓ Profile won’t save - make sure required fields are completed and your phone number is entered as XXX XXX XXXX with spaces (no dashes).
- ✓ Inmate search won’t work - confirm you’re using the correct TDCJ/SID number and that it’s exactly 8 digits.
- ✓ You can’t schedule yet - check whether the request is still under “Relation Requests Pending Approval” versus “Verified Inmate Relations.”
- ✓ Verified but still no scheduling option - if the Schedule Visit button isn’t available, contact the inmate’s unit of assignment to schedule.
