Sending Mail to Someone at Fort Stockton Unit: New Digital Mail Rules Explained

Sending Mail to Someone at Fort Stockton Unit: New Digital Mail Rules Explained

As of September 6, 2023, TDCJ moved all units - including Fort Stockton - to a digital mail platform. Most everyday mail now goes through a central processing system rather than arriving as physical paper at the unit.

For regular correspondence, think digital first. Personal letters, greeting cards, and photos go to the TDCJ Digital Mail Processing Center. Staff there sort and scan everything, then upload it to the inmate's secure tablet.

Address personal correspondence to the Digital Mail Processing Center in Dallas - not the unit itself. Include the inmate's full first and last name and their TDCJ number: Texas Department of Criminal Justice Inmate's Full First and Last Name + TDCJ Number PO Box 660400 Dallas, TX 75266-0400

  • Write the inmate’s full first and last name and TDCJ number exactly as part of the address.
  • Send personal mail, greeting cards, and photos to the Digital Mail Processing Center (not the unit).
  • Use the Dallas PO Box address shown above so your mail goes to the right place for scanning and upload to the secure tablet.

Not everything goes through the Digital Mail Processing Center. Legal mail, media mail, and items like books, magazines, packages, and subscriptions from verified publishers are exceptions. Send those directly to the unit instead.

Note: Legal mail, media mail, and books/magazines/packages from verified publishers are the main exceptions - send those to the unit, not the Digital Mail Processing Center.

No tablet? Your mail still gets through. TDCJ prints black-and-white copies of digital correspondence for inmates who don't have one.
