How to Schedule Your First Visit at Four Mile Correctional Center (FMCC)
Your first visit to FMCC is doable once you know the two big rules: visits are appointment-only, and you need to plan ahead. Follow the steps below to get approved, schedule your visit, and check in at the right place on visit day.
At Four Mile Correctional Center (FMCC), all visits are by appointment only. You must schedule your visit a week in advance, and any exception to that one-week rule has to be pre-approved.
Even with an appointment, the number of visitors an offender can receive and how long visits last may be limited by the facility's schedule, space, and staffing. Your first step: complete the Visitor Application (AR 300-01A) and return it to the facility where the offender is housed. Approval is the gate that unlocks scheduling.
- Get the Visitor Application (AR 300-01A) - This is the form you must complete to be considered for the approved visiting list.
- Fill it out and sign it - Incomplete or unsigned paperwork can slow things down.
- Attach a copy of your photo ID - Include a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID. The address on your ID must match the address on your visiting application, or the application may be denied.
- Return the completed application to the right place - Send or deliver the completed, signed AR 300-01A to the facility where the offender is housed.
Note: Approved visitors may be subject to yearly background checks. If you go a year without visiting, you could be deactivated and will need to reapply before scheduling again.
Once approved, plan your visit dates early. FMCC requires visits to be scheduled a week in advance. Last-minute requests are not the default. If you need an exception, it has to be pre-approved.
Traveling a long distance or rarely able to visit? Ask about a special visit. These are reserved for infrequent or long-distance visitors and require a Special Visitation Application submitted to the location listed on the facility's page.
Video visits follow a separate path, but the first requirement is the same: you must be an approved visitor on the inmate's visiting list. Once approved, schedule video visits online through Securus.
On the day of your appointment, you won't check in directly at FMCC. All FMCC visitors must register at the East Canon Complex Visiting Center according to your scheduled check-in time.
After processing at the Visiting Center, you'll be seated in the south area while you wait for transportation to the FMCC visiting rooms. The East Canon Complex Visiting Center is located about 1/8 mile off Highway 50 on the south side, roughly 2 miles east of Canon City, between mile markers 283 and 284.
What to Bring
- ✓ A copy of a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID (the address must match your visiting application)
- ✓ Your completed Visitor Application (AR 300-01A), submitted to the facility where the offender is housed
Bringing a child? Handle the paperwork up front. Minor children must be named on the legal guardian's Visitor Application, but they don't count toward the 12 approved visitors. If someone other than the parent or legal guardian is bringing the minor, the parent must complete Form 300-01F (Authorization for Minor Child Visitation) and submit it following the facility instructions.
Practical Tips
- ✓ Start the approval process early so you are not blocked when it’s time to schedule (FMCC requires appointments made a week in advance)
- ✓ Build in extra time for day-of check-in since you must register at the East Canon Complex Visiting Center, not at FMCC
- ✓ Have a backup plan if needed, since visit length and the number of visitors can be limited by schedule, space, and staffing
Note: Requesting a special visit? Submit the Special Visitation Application as directed on the facility page. If a non-guardian adult is bringing a minor, get Form 300-01F completed and submitted ahead of time.
If in-person scheduling doesn't work for you, video visits are a solid alternative. You still need approval first. Once you're on the visiting list, schedule through Securus.
