Before You Apply: What Your FMCC Visiting Application Must Include
FMCC visiting applications get held up for predictable reasons. Use this checklist to make sure your packet is complete before you send it in.
Include a copy of a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID with your application. FMCC checks that the address on your ID matches what you write on the form. If they don't match, your application may be denied. Update your ID or double-check that you're using your current address before you submit.
Quick tip: Missing ID copies and address mismatches are easy ways to get denied. Check both before you turn anything in.
You'll need to complete the Visitor Application (AR 300-01A) and submit it to the facility where the offender is housed. If the person you want to visit is at FMCC, send your application to FMCC, not a different CDOC location.
- Confirm you need a special visit - Special visits are for infrequent visitors or people traveling a long distance.
- Complete the Special Visitation Application - Fill out the Special Visitation Application required for these visits.
- Submit it to the right place - Send the application to the location listed on the facility’s page, following that page’s submission directions.
Watch for delays: Applications move faster when AR 300-01A goes to the facility where the offender is housed. Special Visitation Applications should go to the submission location listed on the facility's page.
Bringing a child? Anyone under 18 must be named on the Visitor Application of the legal guardian or immediate family member who will accompany them. Minors listed this way don't count toward the twelve (12) approved visitors.
If someone other than the parent or legal guardian will bring the minor to visit, the parent must complete Form 300-01F (Authorization for Minor Child Visitation). Submit that form following the facility-specific instructions for where the offender is housed.
You can't schedule a video visit until you're approved on the inmate's visiting list. That approval comes first, so make sure your visiting application is submitted and processed before you try to book a video session.
- Get approved as a visitor - You must be on the inmate’s approved visiting list before video visits can be scheduled.
- Set up your Securus account - Once approved, create your video visiting account through Securus.
- Schedule your video visit - Book visits through Securus, following the facility’s instructions.
