How to Get on an Inmate's Visiting List at FPC Bryan
To visit someone at FPC Bryan, you need to be on the inmate's approved visiting list and cleared by the Bureau of Prisons (BOP). The key step? Completing the BOP's Visitor Information form (BP-A0629) and returning it as instructed.
You can't just show up at FPC Bryan and ask to visit. The inmate has to add you to their approved visiting list, and the Bureau of Prisons has to clear you. That approval step is what makes you an authorized visitor.
The visiting list has two categories: relatives and friends/associates. Relatives can include extended family - grandparents, aunts, uncles, in-laws, and cousins. Friends and associates are more restricted. Only 10 can be on the list at a time, so talk with your loved one about who should be added.
You'll need to complete the Bureau's Visitor Information questionnaire and release form, BP-A0629. Fill it out, then mail it to the institution address listed on the form for processing.
Under 18 U.S.C. § 4042, the BOP can request background information about proposed visitors. You're not required to provide it - but if you don't, your request may be suspended and won't move forward.
Warning: BP-A0629 warns that false statements can result in criminal penalties under 18 U.S.C. § 1001 - up to a $250,000 fine or five years in prison.
Next Steps After Submit
- ✓ Call the institution ahead of time to make sure your visit will be permitted.
- ✓ Do this even if you’ve visited before, since the inmate’s visiting list or housing location can change.
