Your first visit goes much smoother when you know what check-in involves. This guide covers the ID you'll need, when to arrive for registration, and how to avoid getting turned away at the door.
To enter the visiting area at Frederick County Detention Center, you’ll need photo identification and proof of age. You also have to be properly registered before you can go in, so don’t plan on walking straight to the visit without completing check-in first.
Registration opens 30 minutes before each visitation period. You can't check in hours early - plan to arrive right when that window opens.
Registration closes 30 minutes before the visitation period ends. Show up too late and you'll miss check-in entirely, even if visits are still in progress. Give yourself enough buffer to register and clear security before that cutoff.
You'll have your photo taken before your visit. Refuse, and you won't be allowed in - you could also lose visitation privileges entirely.
Lockers in the visitation lobby cost $0.25 per use. Bring a quarter so you're not scrambling at check-in.
If you’re bringing someone under 18, they must be accompanied by an adult. The only exception is if the under-18 visitor is the inmate’s spouse.
