If you're an approved visitor and 18 or older, you'll need to show valid picture ID before you can enter. A state-issued driver's license or state-issued photo ID works. Staff check your ID to confirm you're on the approved list.

When you arrive, you'll complete AR Form 300-01B - the Offender Visitor Consent to Search Authorization. This form explains when and how visitors may be searched, and you must sign it before entering. Good news: once it's on file, it stays valid for one year at that facility. After that, you'll need to fill out a new one.

At medium- or higher-custody facilities, there's one extra step: staff will stamp the back of your right hand with an ultra-violet marker. When you leave, they'll check the stamp under a black light to confirm your identity. It's quick, but it catches people off guard the first time if they aren't expecting it.

Note: Children under three are the exception - everyone else should expect the UV hand stamp step before entry at medium- or higher-custody facilities.

Refuse any entrance or visiting procedure and you won't get in - you'll be asked to leave DOC property immediately. Decide ahead of time whether you're comfortable with the required steps before making the trip.

Practical Tips

  • Bring a valid picture ID if you’re 18 or older.
  • Expect to complete AR Form 300-01B (Offender Visitor Consent to Search Authorization) when you register on entry.
  • Secure and lock your vehicle while you’re on state/DOC property.

To keep check-in moving, have your ID ready and plan on completing the visitor registration form before heading inside. Those two items - valid photo ID (for adults) and AR Form 300-01B - are what staff will ask for as you're admitted.

Reminder: Lock up your car while you’re on DOC property. It’s a small step that can prevent avoidable problems during your visit.
