What You Can Bring (and What Will Get You Turned Away) at Fremont Correctional
Most visit problems come down to one thing: bringing items that aren't allowed past the front desk. Pack light, leave the risky stuff behind, and you won't waste a trip.
Fremont Correctional (CDOC) treats portable electronic communication devices as contraband. Don't bring them onto DOC grounds unless you have specific authorization from the DOC executive director. Any device that can transmit, receive, or intercept a signal will cause problems at check-in.
- ✓ Cell phones
- ✓ Tablets (including iPads)
- ✓ Smart watches
- ✓ Smart glasses
- ✓ Pagers
- ✓ Portable radios (public, private, or “family style”)
- ✓ Portable computers
- ✓ Personal digital assistants (PDAs)
- ✓ Any other device capable of transmitting or intercepting cellular or radio signals
Reminder: Don't expect a quick exception at the door. These devices require authorization from the DOC executive director - no exceptions.
Leave outside food in the car. Nothing purchased or made outside the facility is allowed in visitation - except baby food. If you're feeding an infant during your visit, that's the one exception. Everything else stays behind.
Breastfeeding is allowed in the designated area listed in the facility's procedures. If you'll need to breastfeed during your visit, plan to use that specific location - not the general visiting space.
Tip: If you’re visiting with a baby, baby food is the one outside-food exception, and breastfeeding needs to happen in the designated area.
Need prescription medication during your visit? Keep it simple. Bring only what you'll need for the visit, and keep it in the original pharmacy container with the label attached. Don't combine different prescriptions into one bottle - even if they're all yours. Each medication stays in its own properly labeled container.
Practical move: Bring only the dose(s) you’ll need during visitation, in the pharmacy bottle, so staff can verify the label quickly.
Before heading to the entrance, secure your vehicle. Visitors must lock their cars while on state/DOC property. Don't leave valuables visible, and don't assume you can leave it unlocked
