GDCP Visitation Guide: Which Days and Hours You Can Visit Your Loved One
Visitation at GDCP depends on where your loved one is housed. Match their unit type to the schedule below, then plan your request around the cutoff times.
Diagnostic offenders: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
TIER III STEP Program: Wednesdays and Fridays.
UDS (death-sentenced) and SMU: Saturdays, Sundays, and State Holidays, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
General population (including K-Building): Saturdays, Sundays, and State Holidays, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
If your loved one is in the TIER III STEP Program, visitation runs in set time blocks instead of one long open window. The blocks are 9:00 to 11:00 AM, 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, and 1:00 to 3:00 PM. You'll be assigned to one of those periods.
Note: All visits for offenders assigned to the STEP Program must be scheduled in advance.
UDS (death-sentenced) and SMU inmates at GDCP can receive visits on Saturdays, Sundays, and State Holidays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
General population offenders at GDCP, including K-Building, follow the same weekend and holiday schedule: Saturdays, Sundays, and State Holidays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Heads up: Diagnostic offenders cannot receive visits until they have been at GDCP for 60 days.
Diagnostic visitation is also limited to immediate family members. If you're not immediate family, you may need to wait until your loved one's status changes before you can visit.
To request a visit at GDCP, submit your visitation request through the online form linked on the Georgia Department of Corrections visitation page. That's your starting point for getting a visit on the calendar.
Already have a visit scheduled? You can make changes on the same visitation page. Use the "Add Visitor" option to add someone to an existing visit, or select "Cancel my visit" if you need to cancel your appointment.
- ✓ For weekend visits, the cutoff time to request visitation is 5:00 PM on Wednesday of the same week.
- ✓ For State Holiday visits, the cutoff time to request visitation is 5:00 PM three days before the holiday.
