How to Schedule a Visit for Someone in GDCP's TIER III STEP Program
STEP program visits at Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison (GDCP) happen on set days in set time blocks, and you need to request them ahead of time. Here's how to pick your day and time, and get your request submitted before the deadline.
GDCP's TIER III STEP Program holds visitation on Wednesdays and Fridays. There are three time blocks to choose from: 9:00am to 11:00am, 11:00am to 1:00pm, or 1:00pm to 3:00pm. Pick your day first (Wednesday or Friday), then select the single time block that works best for you.
Tip: When you request the visit, choose one specific time block (9–11, 11–1, or 1–3). Being clear about the exact block helps avoid scheduling mix-ups.
STEP visits at GDCP aren't walk-in. You'll need to submit a scheduled visitation request through the online form linked from the Georgia DOC visitation page. When filling it out, focus on two things: confirming you're requesting a STEP visit at GDCP, and selecting a Wednesday or Friday time block that matches the STEP schedule.
- Open the Georgia DOC visitation page: Look for the section that lets you request a scheduled visit.
- Select the scheduled visit request form: This is the form used to request a visitation appointment.
- Fill out the request completely: Enter the information the form asks for (including the offender’s GDC ID and your visitor details), then submit the request.
GDConnect has cutoff times for visitation requests. For weekend visits, the deadline is 5:00 PM on Wednesday of the same week. For state holidays, the cutoff is 5:00 PM three days before the holiday. If you're planning a visit near a holiday week, keep that deadline in mind so you don't submit after the window closes.
Planning note: If your STEP visit falls during a week with a state holiday, get your request in before the 5:00 PM cutoff (three days before the holiday) so you don't miss the window.
Modify Schedule
- ✓ To add visitors to a previously scheduled visit, use the “Add Visitor” link on the Georgia DOC visitation page.
- ✓ To cancel a previously scheduled visit, use the “Cancel my visit” link on the Georgia DOC visitation page.
Plans change. If you've already scheduled a visit and need to adjust, use the "Add Visitor" or "Cancel my visit" options on the visitation page to update your appointment.
Checklist Before Submit
- ✓ Offender ID (GDC ID)
- ✓ Your full legal name (and any other visitors’ full legal names, if applicable)
- ✓ A valid photo ID (the form asks for an ID type, such as Driver’s License or State ID)
Since STEP visits must be scheduled in advance, take a moment to review your request before hitting submit. Make sure you picked a STEP visitation day (Wednesday or Friday) and the exact time block you want. Getting the details right the first time saves you from delays and back-and-forth later.
