Weekend and Holiday Visit Deadlines: When to Request Your Georgia Prison Visit
Planning a weekend or holiday visit at GA Diag Class Prison? The deadline matters just as much as the date. Here are the exact cutoffs so you don't miss your window.
Weekend visit requests must be in by 5:00 PM on Wednesday of the same week. That mid-week cutoff sneaks up on people - the weekend feels far off, but Wednesday is your real deadline.
State holidays work differently: submit your request by 5:00 PM, three days before the holiday. Skip the Wednesday rule here. Count back three days from the holiday and get your request in before 5:00 PM.
All visits are by appointment only. You can't walk in and hope to be worked in - your visit must be requested and scheduled ahead of time, and that request has to meet the deadline for your chosen day.
- ✓ Submit your visit request through the Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) visitation tool.
- ✓ Have the incarcerated person’s GDC offender ID ready.
- ✓ Be prepared to enter your basic details (name, relationship, date of birth, and contact information).
- ✓ If you’re using a driver’s license or state ID, have that information available to enter.
- ✓ Pick the visit date you want and submit early enough to meet the cutoff: Wednesday by 5:00 PM for weekend visits, or 5:00 PM three days before a state holiday.
Tip: Don’t wait until the last minute. Aim to request before Wednesday 5:00 PM for weekend visits, and before 5:00 PM three days before a state holiday, so you don’t get shut out by the cutoff.
Not immediate family? You can't schedule a visit on your own. The incarcerated person needs to complete and submit the
- Have the offender initiate the request - they complete the “Significant Relationship Visitor Application for Visitation Privilege.”
- Wait for review by the Warden/Superintendent - the application is submitted for approval before visits can be scheduled.
- Schedule the visit by appointment - once approved, request your visit through the appointment system and submit before the weekend or holiday cutoff.
Meeting the request deadline is only half the equation. Double-check GA Diag Class Prison's current visiting days and hours before planning your trip - make sure you're requesting a day and time that actually works.
