Anyone 16 or older needs a valid photo ID to enter the visiting area. Bring the ID you'll actually use at the door - forget it, and you may not get in that day.

What to Bring (and What Not to Bring) for a Visit to Gadsden Correctional Facility

Dress

  • Wear a shirt - shirts are required for all visitors.
  • Wear shoes - shoes are required.
  • Skip prohibited footwear - no Heelys and no footwear with removable parts.
  • Keep hems modest - dresses, skirts, and Bermuda-length shorts can’t be more than three inches above the knee.

Note: Dress rules are strictly enforced. When in doubt, skip Heelys or anything with removable parts, and make sure skirts or shorts clearly fall within three inches of the knee.

Want to use the vending machines? You can bring up to $50 in cash per visitor - but only in $1, $5, $10, or $20 bills. That money is strictly for vending purchases. Giving cash to an inmate is not allowed under any circumstances.

Infants

  • Up to five (5) diapers
  • Up to three (3) clear baby bottles
  • Up to two (2) toddler sipper cups
  • Up to three (3) clear plastic jars of sealed (unopened) baby food

Taking prescription medication? Bring only what you'll need while you're there. Keep it in the original container with a readable label showing the medication type, dosage instructions, and the name of the person it was prescribed to.

Note: Don't transfer pills into a baggie, pocket organizer, or unmarked bottle. The original container with a legible label helps you get through the entrance without delays.
