What to Bring (and Leave Home) for Visits at Galveston County Juvenile Detention
Before thinking about what to bring, confirm you're eligible to visit. Galveston County Juvenile Detention limits visits to parents, guardians, and other approved visitors. If you're not on the approved list, you'll be turned away - even if everything else checks out.
Have your picture ID ready at check-in. Galveston County Juvenile Detention requires approved visitors to show a photo ID before entering the visitation area. Don't leave it in the car or buried in a bag you won't be allowed to bring inside.
Note: Parents/guardians can get the visitation schedule no later than the second day of detention by calling and asking to speak with the Intake Officer on duty. Visitation runs between 6:15pm and 7:45pm based on the resident’s unit assignment.
