To secure release on a money bond, you only have to pay the bond amount itself. Bond fees, booking fees, and other debts are not required at the time you post.

Note: A $10 bond fee and up to a 3.5% credit card fee can be charged as a debt after release if you don't pay them when posting. These fees cannot be used to keep someone in custody.

When you post bond, make sure the payment is made out to the holding county. Bond payments should not be made out in the incarcerated person’s name.

  • Use a licensed bondsman (you pay a fee for their services)
  • Pay at the facility 24/7, including at the Bondsman’s Door on the north side of the building
  • Arrange payment by contacting the office 24/7 to set up remote or online posting

Need to start the process remotely? Call 970-945-1377 ext.1055 to get it set up.

Once bond is set and the jail knows you're ready to post, the sheriff must release the defendant within six hours for a personal recognizance bond or cash bond. Delays beyond that require extraordinary circumstances. If release is taking longer, push for a specific explanation.

When you post a money bond, you're entitled to a copy of the bond paperwork. This should include the next court date, so you can track what happens next.

You can post bond in person 24/7 at the Garfield County Sheriff's Office, 107 8th Street, Glenwood Springs. Bond-related business is also handled around the clock at the Bondsman's Door on the north side of the building.

To post remotely, call 970-945-1377 ext.1055. For current inmate information, call the Garfield County Jail at (970) 945-0453.

For immediate questions about detention, reach detention deputies at 970-945-1377 ext.1034.

If you believe your bond-related rights were violated, file a complaint with Professional Standards. Call 970-945-0453 during business hours, or email INFO@GARCOSHERIFF.COM with the details.
