Dress Code Rules at Garland County Detention: What You Can and Can't Wear

Garland County Detention can deny your visit based on what you're wearing. Sleeveless shirts, halter tops, and anything showing your midriff will get you turned away. Low-cut necklines and see-through items are also off-limits. If you're debating whether something is too revealing, switch to something more conservative.

Graphics and messaging matter too. Clothing with offensive or profane logos will get you denied - same goes for anything promoting alcohol, drugs, violence, anti-government sentiment, or gang affiliation. Even if it's "just a brand" or you don't mean anything by it, leave it at home.

You must wear appropriate footwear. Boots, shoes, and sandals are all acceptable. Show up barefoot or in flip-flops, and you could lose your visit.

Even if you're dressed right, your behavior can end a visit early. Don't make gang signs or strike the video screen. Keep your voice calm and your demeanor respectful - being loud, disorderly, or unruly is grounds for termination. Avoid any statements or gestures that could be seen as threatening to staff or facility security.

You're expected to stay seated throughout the visit. Sit in the chair provided and remain there the entire time. The exception is visitors who use a wheelchair.

Don't show up if you've been drinking or using drugs. Staff can deny entry or suspend your visit if they believe you're under the influence. Visits may also be cut short if there's an emergency at the facility.
