If you are an adult (18 or older), bring a government-issued photo ID. Staff use it to confirm your identity before you can enter for visitation.

  • County jail booking sheets
  • County jail armbands
  • Photocopies of a driver’s license or state ID
  • Oaklawn IDs
  • ADC IDs

Leave your personal belongings in your vehicle if at all possible. If that's not an option, you'll need to store everything in a provided locker. Purses, bags, backpacks, and similar items aren't allowed in the visitation area. Arriving with only what you truly need gets you through check-in faster.

Clothing Footwear

  • Sleeveless shirts or halter tops
  • Exposed midriffs
  • Revealing attire, including low-cut necklines
  • See-through clothing
  • T-shirts or other clothing with offensive or profane logos or messages
  • Clothing that advocates alcohol, drugs, violence, anti-government sentiment, or gang affiliation

Appropriate footwear is mandatory. Boots, shoes, or sandals are acceptable.

You can bring a few small items to show the person you're visiting: eyeglasses (and/or false teeth), pictures, and schoolwork. These are shown through the glass or video screen only, and detention staff must clear them before your visit begins.

Prohibited Items Visitation Area

  • Medications or chemicals
  • Food or drink

  • Tobacco products
  • Weapons
  • Purses, bags, backpacks, or other similar items
  • Smoking during the visit
  • Eating or drinking during the visit
  • Staying after the visit ends (you must leave promptly when visitation is over)
