Garza East Visiting Hours, Visit Length, and Extended Visit Eligibility

Regular contact visits at Garza East happen on Saturdays and Sundays.

Visiting hours run from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Plan your travel and check-in time around that window.

Each contact visit lasts two hours. The clock starts when both you and your loved one are present - not when you arrive at the facility. Give yourself extra time so you're not rushing. Showing up late means less time together.

Garza East allows one visit per visiting cycle, and the cycle runs Monday through Sunday. Once someone has a visit during that week, don't expect to schedule another - even if visiting hours remain on the weekend.

Traveling a long distance? You may be able to request an extended visit. These are available to visitors coming more than 250 miles one way, though approval is up to the warden or their designee.

Extended visits can last up to four hours. Meeting the distance requirement doesn't guarantee approval - it depends on available time and space in the visiting schedule.

  • ✓ Plan around the standard visiting days (Saturday and Sunday)

  • ✓ Remember a regular visit is two hours and starts when both the inmate and the visitor(s) are present - build in buffer time so you don’t lose visit time
