Genesee County Jail Visiting Hours: Days, Times, and Holiday Closures
Visiting someone at Genesee County Jail is straightforward once you know the schedule. Here are the standard visiting days and times, regular closures, and holidays to plan around.
Genesee County Jail holds visits Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, with Saturday hours from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. No visits on Sundays or Mondays. Pick your day first, then plan your travel around that window. If Sunday or Monday is your only free day, you'll need to rearrange your schedule.
- ✓ Tuesday–Friday: 9:00 am–6:00 pm
- ✓ Saturday: 8:00 am–2:00 pm
Beyond the regular Sunday and Monday closures, Genesee County Jail doesn't hold visits on Thanksgiving or Christmas. If you're traveling from out of town or coordinating with family, have a backup day ready.
Visits run on a first-come, first-served basis each hour during posted times. Showing up early gives you a better shot at getting in during the hour you want - especially on busy days. Arrive at the start of an hour, not the end. Factor in drive time and parking.
Tip: Try to arrive early for the hour you want. Since visits are first-come, first-served each hour, getting there ahead of time can make the difference.
- Put the visit window on your phone calendar - Add the day and the exact hours (plus travel time) so you don’t end up arriving late.
- Set a second reminder for the day before - This is the one that helps you line up rides, childcare, or time off.
- Write down a backup day - If something falls through, you’ll already know your next option.
I recommend making an appointment in advance by calling the Genesee County Jail at 343-0838. Need to add someone to your visit? That has to be done at least 24 hours ahead - don't wait until the day of.
