Setting up video visits for someone at Geo Western: Register for Securus, enable Video Connect, and add funds

Securus handles communications for California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) facilities. That same Securus account is what you'll use for videoconferencing and related features when they're available for the person you're trying to reach.

Start by creating (or signing into) your Securus online account. You can do this through the Securus mobile app or their website - either way, the goal is the same: get your login set up so you can turn on video services. For CDCR videoconferencing, registration isn't optional. You might be able to receive free phone calls without an online account, but videoconferencing (and electronic messaging) requires one.

1. Sign in to your Securus account - if you haven’t registered yet, create your online account first so you can access videoconferencing features.
2. Open the Securus app and tap “Video Connect” - this is the area where video visitation is set up.
3. Register for Video Connect - follow the prompts to complete registration.
4. Select “Permitir videollamadas” (“Allow video calls”) - this setting enables video calls on your account.

1. Open the Securus app - sign in with the account you’ll use for video.
2. Choose “AdvanceConnect” - this is the option Securus points to for setting up prepaid videoconferences.
3. Set up your AdvanceConnect funding - enter the required account details to create the prepaid setup.
4. Add funds to your account - once money is added, it can be used for prepaid video calls where required.

Securus Video Connect is web-based, so you can schedule and join sessions from anywhere with internet access. Use the free Securus app, a computer, or a tablet - whatever works best for you.

Beyond video visits, Securus offers messaging features to help you stay connected between live sessions. You may be able to send messages and photos, plus eCards for birthdays, holidays, and encouragement.
