Setting Up Video Visits from Home: GTL VisBridge and Scheduling Windows

Before you can register or schedule anything, the incarcerated person must submit a visitor list to their Case Manager for approval. Only people on that authorized list can participate in video visits. If you're not seeing scheduling options, check your approval status first.

  1. Create your GTL login - set up a username and password.
  2. Enter your visitor information - complete the required registration details.
  3. Wait for the approval email - your account won’t be ready to schedule until you receive confirmation.
  4. Log back in and pick a time - once approved, sign in again and choose an available time slot for your visit.

Video visits on a computer require GTL's desktop application called GTL VisBridge. Don't wait until your visit starts to set it up. Log into your visitor account at least 10 minutes early, run the "Internet Visit Tester," and follow the prompts to download and test everything. This quick check catches common issues - like your camera or microphone not being selected - before your time starts.

  1. Log into your visitor account early - sign in at least 10 minutes before your scheduled visit.
  2. Open “Internet Visit Tester” - find it on the menu bar inside your account.
  3. Download and run GTL VisBridge - follow the on-screen prompts to install/launch the desktop app.
  4. Confirm your audio and video - make sure the right camera and microphone are working before you start the visit.

George W. Hill has a tight scheduling window: you can book no fewer than 2 days out and no more than 7 days ahead. Try to book outside that range and you won't see any available slots. Check the calendar within that 2–7 day window.

Remote-location rule: Your video visit has to be conducted from a remote location - do not try to take the visit while you’re on facility grounds.

Video visits run Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 9:55pm. Availability depends on the incarcerated person's housing assignment, so if you don't see the time you want, try another day within the allowed window or check back later for new openings.

Recorded and enforceable: Video visits are audio/video recorded and subject to review. Dress code is the same as in-person visitation, and inappropriate dress or behavior can end the visit and may lead to suspension of future visits.
