Sending Photos to George W. Hill: Size, Content, and Approval Rules
Photos can be a real boost for someone inside—but mailrooms are strict. Screen your pictures against these rules before sending them to George W. Hill Correctional Facility.
Stick to standard sizes: 4x6 or 3x5 inches. Anything outside those dimensions risks delays or rejection. Crop and print correctly before mailing.
Use regular photo paper prints only. Polaroids and instant photos aren't allowed - even if the image itself is fine, the format will get it rejected.
Prohibited Content
- ✓ Explicit or sexually suggestive photos (including nudity)
- ✓ Gang signs, symbols, or colors
- ✓ Weapons or violence
- ✓ Drug or alcohol use
- ✓ Photos of other inmates or prison facilities
- ✓ Anything that could pose a security risk
Photos that break the rules may not be delivered. George W. Hill can return rejected photos to you, destroy them, or hold them in the inmate's property rather than handing them over. Double-check everything before you send.
Common rejection triggers: Photos with stickers or writing on them, and photos that don't meet size or quantity limits.
- Print on regular photo paper - Skip Polaroids/instant photos, even if they’re brand-new.
- Use an approved size - Print at 4x6 or 3x5 so the mailroom can process them.
- Remove extras from the photo - Don’t add stickers, and don’t write on the photo itself.
- Screen the image content - Avoid anything the facility flags (sexual content, gang-related imagery, weapons/violence, drugs/alcohol, other inmates or prison facilities, or anything that looks like a security risk).
- Stay within size/quantity limits - Don’t send more than allowed; going over can cause rejection.
