Visit Request Deadlines for Gilmer County Detention Center: Weekends, Holidays, and How to Submit on Time

Miss the deadline, miss the visit. If your request isn't in by the cutoff, you won't get scheduled for that weekend or holiday window. Planning ahead saves you from last-minute scrambling. The request form asks for specific details - including the incarcerated person's GDC ID and your own identifying information. Have everything ready before the deadline so you can submit cleanly.

For weekend visits, requests are due by 5:00 PM on Wednesday of the same week. Want to visit Saturday or Sunday? Get your request in by Wednesday at 5:00 PM. Holiday cutoffs come even earlier: 5:00 PM three days before the holiday. Count back three days, mark 5:00 PM on your calendar, and treat that as your hard deadline.

1. Start your request in the GDC visitation form - Scheduled visits are requested through the Georgia Department of Corrections visitation form.
2. Enter the incarcerated person’s GDC ID - The form asks for the Offender ID (GDC ID), so have it ready before you begin.
3. Fill in your personal details - You’ll be asked for your name, email address, relationship, and date of birth.
4. Choose the correct ID type - The form includes ID Type options (Driver’s License, State ID, or None). Driver’s License and State ID can only be selected if you are 18 years or older.
5. Double-check everything before you submit - A small typo (like a wrong GDC ID or date of birth) can slow things down when you’re racing a deadline.
